Quietly, the Junior House and Year 6 parents entered the Sedum with Mr Todd playing 'Ave Maria' on the trumpet. The mood was sombre as Year 6 spoke about the importance of Remembrance Day and then recited poetry and prose written in their English lessons. The Year 6 pupils read them with poise and great emotion, as tears rolled down the faces of the members of the audience as they remembered.
As William from Y5 performed the last post on his trumpet, the children in Years 3-6 all trooped out to the playground and watched as each class placed a wreath of poppies under the pear tree. The sun was basking on the whole school as we gathered there and we waited for the chimes of Big Ben. The whole school observed a two-minute silence to remember those who had fought in the war. It was a very touching and emotional service and Year 6 lead this exceptionally well.
