front 100317What a spectacular day it has been as we celebrate the school's landmark 90th birthday! The smiles that lit the children's faces were a delight to behold as they arrived to see their school adorned in beautiful ribbon, cunningly disguised as a 'Big Top'. The whole school community has really pulled together providing our children with yet another sensational Founder's Day, packed full of wonderfully exciting activities.

The day got off to a melodious start with the Wind Band playing a lovely medley of Happy Birthday, Harry Potter, Star Wars and the Great Escape to welcome the children, whilst Year 6 leapt straight into action as they faced the challenges of the climbing wall. In the Hall, the pupils are jammin' to the sounds of the steel pans, whilst target practice under the red and white awnings in the playground allows the children the chance to emulate Robin Hood himself! This proves to be a real adrenaline rush as our keen young archers take to the bow and arrow skilfully and accurately.

Meanwhile, the Infants are also enjoying a fun-packed day with their bouldering wall, a room filled with minibeasts and action-packed circus skills. You might think that all of this is just for fun (which is undoubtedly a major part of the experience), but serious learning also takes place. Additionally, we were delighted to welcome a group of musicians from Kew House School who sang so beautifully and with such passion that the room fell silent as the children sat transfixed by the music. We are very grateful for this inspiring experience.

Mrs Blackborn created a truly spectacular cake in pride of place in the school foyer - it is an absolute masterpiece and although mouth-wateringly enticing to eat, it seems a shame to eat it. No doubt it will have been devoured by the time you've read this. In addition, we are all thrilled with the divine cakes in Kew College colours made by the parents and carefully assembled and delivered to the classrooms by KCF. We really have a committed and caring school community.
