Last night saw the annual Junior House Carol Service at the beautiful St Anne's Church on Kew Green. The standard of singing was, once again, raised to a level that can only be described as 'superb.'

The whole service was note-perfect and haunting with the use of 2-part harmony in many songs. The highlight of the evening, however, was seeing the energy, engagement and enthusiasm from every single child participating throughout the performance.

Year 6 stole the show again with their impressive descant verses during 'The Nightwatchers', 'Footprints in the Sand' and 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing', whilst some solo and vocal group voices sounded no less than fantastic in the acoustics of the church space. The readers for this service also spoke eloquently and their story was clearly understood by all listening.
The upper school were given many challenging pieces to sing throughout the performance, as two-part harmony, but they rose to the challenge and sang with conviction for every song.

Y3 were impressive with their selection of carols as they were participating in their first ever Carol Service; every singer gave it their all from start to finish.

Y4 led the way for the middle school with their lovely rendition of harmonies in 'Rocky Road'.

During the Junior House choir songs, the level of commitment to singing was phenomenal. Every child sang with expression and passion, and the Christmas story was told beautifully through song.

It has been a pleasure to work with all of the children in the Junior House on such a special performance this term, and I hope that they will continue to raise the standard of music in the school.

Thank you to all of the staff who helped during rehearsals and the performance. A special thank you to Miss Taman for conducting and pulling the Carol Service together, and to Mr Esteban for his able piano accompanying.
